Julia Fisher

Julia Fisher (She/Her) is a TV Format Developer, writer, and performance maker. Based in Glasgow, she studied Contemporary Performance Practice at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (2016-2020) and participated in TRC Media’s Format lab programme. She now works freelance across various roles in television, literature and theatre.

She tries not to settle  her work into niches too easily, and prefers to dabble in as much as possible. Julia’s TV work primarily been in development for entertainment formats for Hungry Bear Media but she has also worked in post production and research  roles. As a playwright her work has been performed at the Traverse Theatre Edinburgh, including being shown as part of the Words Words Words showcase. She has performed with the National Theatre of Scotland, 21 Common, and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, as well as internationally with Theater Labor, Germany and Plavo Pozoriste, Serbia. In 2019 she was awarded the Carnegie Foundation’s Vacation Scholarship Award for a research project into interactive performance.

The leading motivation of Julia’s career is finding moments of play and unpredictability. Whether it be in a quiz format where nobody knows what question is coming next, around the table playing Dungeons and Dragons or on stage talking to a crowd of strangers, there is something magic to be found in the unknown and Julia wants to have some fun with it.
