Not all of us made it to this point. Some of us left by choice, some wish they could have made it to the end. What might have come into being if they had made something? What might have come into being if I’d made that something instead?
Julia Fisher Presents Every Degree Show That Never Got Made (2020) is an attempt to create a sampling of every degree show of every person who never made a show while on the Contemporary Performance Practice course at the Royal conservatoire of Scotland. The show is both a dedication to dropouts misfits and failures, and a questioning as to whether it’s really possible to recreate someone’s idea that never really existed in the first place.
The show was meant to be performed as part of the RCS’ Into the New degree show festival in march 2020, but unfortunately the entire world shut down due to a global pandemic. Now the show has been relegated into the same theoretical un-existence as its subject matter. (That’s the pretentious way of comforting myself into not getting depressed about losing months of work on something that will never happen 😜)
